QUALIFYING FOR CHAPTER 7 KEEPS GETTING EASIER

Every six months the “means test” which is used to calculate Chapter 7 availability gets updated. Effective November 1, 2019 a single person with income below $52,168 would qualify, for a family of four that number now is $91,986. If you don’t meet the means test you may still qualify depending on your expenses and type of debt. For example, a person paying child support may qualify even if his or her income exceeds the means number. Also if your debt is primarily business debt, the means test does not apply.
