TAX DEBT CAN BE ADDRESSED WITH BANKRUPTCY OR WITHOUT FILING

Many people don’t know that some tax debts can be forgiven in a Bankruptcy filing, or that payments can be made in a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy filing while addressing other unsecured debts.  Even if the IRS will not forgive your tax debt, you may qualify for non-collection status, which means your Social Security and Tax Returns will not be garnished.  Last week I was able to get a client on Social Security on non-collection status which will allow her to receiver her full social security payments going forward  Not all Bankruptcy Attorneys are qualified to negotiate Tax Debts with the IRS.  Unless the attorney has registered with the IRS he or she cannot represent you.
