How do they do it?

Have you ever looked at the web sites of the Bankruptcy Attorneys in Grand Rapids?  I see attorneys that specialize in Bankruptcy, Child Custody, Divorce, Family Law, Criminal Law, DUI, Personal Injury, Trusts and Estates, Wills, Business Law, Workers Compensation, Social Security and Real Estate  How can you specialize in ten different things?  Hiring an attorney is a difficult process.  There is specialization and there is being a jack of all trades.  Personally, I wouldn’t hire an attorney that does nothing but Bankruptcy, and I wouldn’t hire one that does ten other things in addition to Bankruptcy.  No area of law is an island.  Sometimes you need to be a trial lawyer, sometimes you need to know Tax or Social Security Law, sometimes you need to know about Trusts and estates in order to be the best Bankruptcy Lawyer you can be.  If you have never tried a case, know nothing about Tax law, or the impact of how a Trust is set up or a deed is written, chances are you can’t fully represent your client in a complicated Bankruptcy matter.  At the same time, if you are a criminal law, family law, corporate law, tax law, estate planning, civil litigator, personal injury, drunk driving, child custody, elder law expert, there are not enough hours in a day to keep up with everything you need to know to serve your clients.  So when you look for an attorney, no matter what kind of attorney you need, keep in mind that you want someone who is well rounded.  A specialist in the area of law you need, but with enough experience in other areas that relate to your legal issue.
