Every week hundreds of people in the Grand Rapids area find themselves the target of collection lawsuits. Many people simply ignore the suits and get defaulted. A default judgment provides an avenue for creditors to garnish your wages, attach your state tax returns, even take your car. No matter what, you should always answer the lawsuit, even if its just a letter to the Court. Most Courts will consider this an answer and will then set a pre-trial which allows you to tell the court your side of the story and to set up a payment plan with the creditor.
