ARE YOU PAYING TOO MUCH FOR YOUR GRAND RAPIDS CHAPTER 13 BANKRUPTCY?

How do you know if you are paying too much for your Chapter 13 Bankruptcy in Grand Rapids MI?   Is your attorney charging by the hour, or offering a set fee?  Chances are if she charges by the hour you will get overcharged.  The Bankruptcy Judges in Grand Rapids have provided guidelines for the fees attorneys can charge without asking the Court to approve the fee.  www.miwb.uscourts.gov/…/adminorders/feeguidelinesmemorandum1.pdf   Under the guidelines most attorneys can Charge $3,000 for a Chapter 13 through confirmation without having their fees reviewed by the Court.  If your attorney does not charge a set fee chances are she is looking to charge more than $3,000.  I have seen Chapter 13 fees as high as $8,000.  So if you are shopping around for a Chapter 13 ask if the attorney charges the “No Look” fee, or by the hour.   If its by the hour, be prepared to spend a lot more than the no look fee.
